Adult day

Day Activity and Health Services (DAHS)

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC)

Licensed day activity and health services (DAHS) facilities provide daytime services to people who live in the community as an alternative to living in a nursing home or other setting. Services, which usually are provided Monday through Friday, address physical, mental, medical and social needs and include a noon meal and snacks, nursing and personal care, physical rehabilitation, social, educational and recreational activities, and transportation. Sometimes this is called adult day care or adult day services.

How to start

To apply for services, contact your local HHS office or call 855-937-2372. HHSC also created a statewide intake line for community care services at 888-241-1570, which prompts you to enter your ZIP code, which directs to your local office for support.
