Building Better Caregivers

VA Houston Health Care (Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center)

Building Better Caregivers (BBC) is an online six-week workshop that helps caregivers reduce stress and anxiety, manage difficult behaviors and emotions, and improve physical and mental health. Caregivers attend weekly online lessons, create a weekly goal, give and receive feedback from other caregivers, share progress and decide which tools and resources work best, and can log in at their convenience during the week. After the workshop, caregivers stay connected through the alumni community and have access to weekly discussion topics and monthly events.

How to start

Connect through the Building Better Caregivers link on the VA Caregiver Support Program page, or call VA's Caregiver Support Line at 1-855-260-3274 to learn more about the support available and for assistance connecting with the CSP Team/Caregiver Support Coordinator at your local VA facility. There is no formal application required to enroll in PGCSS: reach out to the facility CSP Team/Caregiver Support Coordinator or request a referral from the Veteran's provider, then complete an intake with the CSP Team.
